Rise of the Hunters (ROTH) is an Original Character Adventure. The primary focus of this type of contest is for the entrant to develop an original character by participating in adventure-like rounds. These rounds contain small portions of the plot which, by the time the entrant has finished, will develop into a full story.

The most important things to not is that you may drop out and return at any point in time. Whether you start half-way through or go the long-shot, you will always be qualified to enter a round and win the monthly prize. ROTH OCA has two categories, literature and illustration, which can be entered and both have a monthly winner each. The minimum requirement for entry into the illustration category is 3 images while the maximum word count for the literature category is 5,000 words.

The OCA is set during the year 2059 when an event has touched every corner of the globe and sparked the beginning of a new era later to be known as the Shockwave Era after the event nearly three years later. The event which sparked this was era was unofficially named the Shockwave only weeks afterwards because of the unusually shockwave-like winds and tremors which radiated outwards from the source, a small town in Australia.

Only days later, announced by this event, a small percentage of the whole population underwent changes. Some of these gained abilities while others changed in appearance but all of them came to be known as the Gifted. To add to this confusion, strange Creatures, later to be name Auctorial, began to appear just over a week after the event. Those creatures that had once been memories in mythology and walked alongside alien beasts, confident in their claim of Earth.

Darkness Rising OCA (DROCA) is set just months later when a small handful of people discover a scattering of eggs throughout the globe. Upon touching them they become bonded to the soon to be Soul Creature residing within this egg and set out on an adventure. This pair travel the globe, making deals with demons, meeting other Bearers (as these pairs are known as), talking to dragons and discovering the new world before their journeys come to an abrupt end.

Rise of the Hunters OCA (ROTH) follows in the footsteps of the first Shockwave OCA as collection of people join the newly created UN branch, the International Bestiary Organization, as IBO Hunters. Their sole job is help control and contain the rather deadly Creatures from society.

The World before the Shockwave event was much like it had been 50 years earlier. Technology had taken great leaps but the vanishing resources and finical issues have thrown barrier after barrier at this progress leaving only enough time for minor technologies to be created. This is not the sci-fi future that was predicated. All of human society is tense, despite each countries attempt to alleviate the financial crisis, but it would only take a push to get them to toe the line. War may seem close but no one is willing to risk a third world war when no one will win.
