Some people simply want positive feedback. Others may ask for critique but may still get offended. I can't speak for you or your situation personally as I was not part of the discussion, so i do not know what is said nor is it any of my business. But a good rule of thumb is to give feedback when possible, and critique if welcomed. Some people are just funny about that sort of thing is all. Don't let one situation deter you from giving feedback.
