If we are talking about a specific universe that i enjoy its WH40K -> sci-fi If we are talking about a place where id like to live -> fantasy hands down If we are talking about a situation where i go and buy a novel or a video game iv never seen before -> fantasy UNLESS i see some rly eye-popping sci-fi thingy
So yeah , i actually love em both but fantasy wins cause 1) im very picky when it comes to sci-fi and 2) fantasy works better as an imagination of how id like the world to be
I prefer Fantasy over Science Fiction. I believe the reason it has always been more enticing to me is because I’ve always been intrigued by history. I love stories that delve into the “what ifs” of the past. It doesn’t have to have magic in the equation either. I think I have an easier time visualizing the worlds of fantasy than I do science fiction as well. I seem to be able to relate to castles, horses and swords more so than spacecraft, turbo-mechs, and laser beam guns. Maybe it also has to deal with the fact that I personally would not enjoy being stuck inside a spaceship, just sounds so constricting… even though I wouldn’t mind having a halodeck.
Well Tech's fun too, but fantasy has always been my thing as long as i can remember! Although I'm mainly drawn to the darker side of fantasy! Fantasy is one place where you can let your imagination run wild without having to explain "Why its like that" to people!
I don't think I like one or the other as a strict genre, meaning I like to mix things up. I couldn't write purely science fiction novels because they ask questions like, "Is that really plausible? Could that really happen in the near future?" And I hate having to explain myself and...well, doing research to really find out if that were the case. So, I tend to mix in a bit of fantasy with my science fiction. I think if you are creative enough, you can bend the rules with just about ANY genre out there Actually, it ought to be done more often, instead of sticking to the exact same things that we've read before.
Axtually I prefere the mix: fantasy-sci-fi, like Final Fantasy 7. You know, magic, swords and weird creatures, but in the world of mechanics and metal. If I have to choose one though, I would choose fantasy. To put it simple, I like magic and sword play more than guns and mechanics.
